  • Hey Ashley, I’m still lurking around your site. You have been doing amazing things! I wanted to throw out another painting tip, which of course you can dismiss considering you are the one who is a full time painter! You should try to stay away from white when you’re painting portraits. It’s very cool and bluish and doesn’t mesh well with the beautiful warm colors you are using. Maybe try using naples yellow light as your lightest value - I think it will add even more warmth to your already beautiful portraits. Keep up the good work! Can’t wait to see your latest project.

I remember when good ole’ Peter Gooch used to tell me, “if you don’t stop using so much white, I’m going to take the tube of paint away from you.” It is a bad habit, and this shot really shows it.
