I’m en route to Seattle today for a 2 1/2 week stay. As always, I would love to hear your suggestions of blog worthy topics, causes, organizations and people I should have on my agenda to cover.

British Columbia is just across the Canadian border, and is truly gorgeous. Have a peek if you have the time and passport.
B.C. seaport handles lots of cruise ships. Embarking, disembarking, setting sail, these are still emotional events, even for just a short family vacation. Notice how the cruise line usually posts a designated photographer to snap pictures of passengers arriving aboard or returning at most ports.
There is the sea. The power of the simple waves, the turmoil and energy of water banging onto shore, rocks, and coastline.
Look into the Naturist activities in the area for lots of .. exposure! Native tribes have been in the news in recent years, preserving ancient traditions and crafts.
There is the space needle. I ate lunch there during the 1962-63 World’s Fair. Impressive view. There is train service to Seattle. Many people are captivated by any rail equipment, the elegance, power, history, and romance of the rail. And the history of imported Oriental labor, brutalized to build the rail lines of the West.
If you look, you might find some Draft Horse activities, from loggings to draft horse pull contests, to carriage rides.
Enjoy the trip!

Hi Ashley,
A mutual friend pointed me to your website (he will be coming to visit next week). We live on Vashon Island and we have several deserving non-profits, but my favorite is Granny’s Attic which is a second hand shop that supports our local health clinic. As a side benefit, the shop is located on a rise that looks west to the Olympics and east to the Cascades and Mount Rainier–on a clear day these are unparalleled views. And the ferry ride to get here also provides wonderful opportunities to see the sights–the Sound, the boat traffic, and the mountains.
Enjoy Seattle while you are here–it’s a fabulous city.

Hello Jean!
Thank you so much for the lead. I’m staying on Bainbridge Island (maybe close to you). I will definitely try to make it out to Granny’s Attic. I need a sweater anyway since I foolishly expected Seattle to be as hot as Louisville in July.
