Last week I decided to try something I rarely have an opportunity to do, take a day off. It looked like I was headed to the beach with my car equipped with a book, a backlog of magazines, a beach towel, a picnic lunch, and a small set of paints (and no laptop I might add). I drove away from the city and took the first exit that looked like a good place to get lost. I ended up in the small town of Corydon, Indiana where old men sit on park benches outside of antique stores and homemade jams come from the local Strawberry Festival.
Amidst the relaxed, leisurely pace of Corydon, I found Blue River Services, Inc., a highly relevant non-profit organization working to assist and assimilate disabled persons by helping them realize their “maximum personal growth and development within [their] home, work and community.” A list of some of their services include job placement, housing, and transportation. All services are offered at their facilities as well as in “non-segregated, community based settings” (geez, that’s good to know! I suppose segregation is still worth mentioning in this area).
I’m glad my day off accomplished more than maintaining my sanity. I’ll be happy to add Blue River Services, Inc. to my donation list when this plein air painting finds an owner.

I was scrolling down through your pics when I saw the Old Capital in Corydon. It is one of my favorite places, and being only 20 or so miles away, I briefly mentioned it - and the building itself - in my blog over the weekend.
I enjoy your paintings and will sooner or later get around to pruchasing one. I like the old house you are presently working on.

Thank Jeff! I stopped by your blog and browsed around. Feel free to use the picture of the painting in your sidebar where you have a “library” of images.
Maybe this one will end up on your wall. Blue River Services and I would of course appreciate it.
