‘Tis the season to crowd your living room floor with sparkling gifts for your loved ones. For the animal lovers on your shopping list, don’t forget that your local Humane Society offers many four-legged companions that won’t stay put under your tree, but will certainly thrill the new owner. It’s a win-win gift-giving situation; the recipient is happy, as well as the gift!

Tonight I stopped into a Feeder Supply Store (which works in conjunction with the KY Humane Society) and got to play with several animals ready to go to a new home. I challenge you to cuddle one of these homeless critters and walk away!

  • Ashley, I received this painting of Lily for Christmas. I got her at the Humane Society as a 10 week old pup and it was a lucky day for me because she is beyond wonderful. We couldn’t figure out what type of dog she was but thought she must be part donkey with those ears. Thanks for a beautiful gift.

  • Johanna, I’m so glad you’re happy with it. I wondered while I was working on the painting if Lily’s ears were pinned up as a puppy for the showdog look. Jerry tells me wonderful things about your Humane Society find. I love these happy endings!
